March 10, 2012 - March 11, 2012Awakening the Leader Within
A Two Day Psychology of Vision Workshop with
Melissa Meyer in Mount Currie, BC
March 10 - 11, 2012
A new form of leadership is required to meet the challenges of today’s changing times. We can no longer do things like we have in the past. Today we need leaders who are willing to find a better way, so that they willingly step up and lead for everyone’s benefit.
At the heart of leadership, three main principles need to be mastered to really make the difference: a leader who leads, a leader who empowers and finally a leader who answers the calls for help. The first principle which is the toughest step in leadership speaks of literally showing up, being willing to lead because a leader is willing to be led or inspired.
Traditionally FN people were led or mentored as they were groomed to take their place in the community.Shamans, healers and medicine people, for example were mentored by Spirit, and they had leaders train them in their respective traditional practices. They were willing to be guided, to follow and obey the wise elders and leaders in order to take their respective place. This type of spiritual mentorship is so necessary today if we as First Nations are going to be leaders. Inspiration, our connection to Spirit and our responsiveness to it, is what is required if we are to make the difference.
This form of leadership is our gift and the world is waiting for us to share it. We must be willing to go inside to re-awaken and remember what we promised to share. Our greatest gift is to heal and unlearn anything that would block us from showing up and sharing who we are as First Nations people and sharing our gift of Spirit.
